Feral

As a member of your community I have needs that I would like to present to you for your information as well as for your action.

  • I was either 'born' here or abandoned on your property while you most likely 'chose' to live here.
  • I have lived for quite some time dependent upon the mercy of dumpsters and their contents in order to survive from one day to the next.  You, on the other hand, are most likely self sufficient and are therefore never concerned as to where your next meal might come from.
  • Like you, I have found a group 'of my own kind' to communicate with and share the up's and down's of life with in this community.

  • Like you as well, I have found some sort of shelter or another to call my own though in my case it's more likely the bushes, the trees, an overhang, whatever.  You, on the other hand, call it your 'home'.......or more coldly, your 'house'.
  • I have recently had the good fortune of finding some kind hearted people to provide a regular supply of leftovers or food for me so that I might not need to 'hunt' from one spot to another, from one yard to another, from one dumpster to another.
  • I have likewise found these people to be very concerned for my welfare as well as the welfare of my 'extended family' much as the association is for you and your friends and family.
  • I have also been neutered or spayed so that I might never bring unwanted offspring into this world of hunger and abandonment.
  • I have additionally been vaccinated so that I might not get sick and die from an unpleasant communicable disease nor be able to infect anyone else with such just as you too take all the necessary precautions to stay well.
  • As such, I am now looking for a home and companion to share my life and love with.......much as most of you have most likely already done.
  • Until I find this special home I ask of you to reconsider my needs as those of a 'temporary resident' of this community and grant me a reasonable stay until such time as my 'network of concerned individuals' find me such a home. In turn, I will confine my activity to one specified area, keep it neat and low-profiled and promise to let the powers to be know if any uninvited newcomers try to move in on this territory so that they can be dealt with in the appropriate manner.  In a word, I will 'control' the possibility of any sort of 'overpopulation' issue before it can even arise and save you the expense and effort of dealing with it yourselves.
I, by the way, am the one who some, through some sort of misguided veil of ignorance, call 'feral' or 'wild'.  But I am also the one who would willfully (if you let me) jump up in your lap and provide hours of contentment and company should you ever need it.  I am the one who will listen to you and your needs when sometimes no one else will.  I am also the one who knows when you are down and will do all that I can within my powers and abilities to make you smile, make you laugh and maybe even make you weep for joy that at least someone truly cares and 'understands'.
I go by many names but to you I may be considered 'the disposable cat'..........so I only ask that you reconsider that label and think of me instead as 'the one who could make a difference in the life of the lonely, the busy, the sick, the well, the caring, the self centered, the old, the young, the rich, the poor, the 'me' and maybe even the 'you' in this world.'  All I really ask then is for the chance to 'live and let live'.
Respectfully submitted by your neighbor and mine,
"Humane Treatment"
